When a partition is running out of space, it is very useful to merge 2 partitions as a single larger one. This article will guide you through the process to merge 2 partitions into 1 without data loss.
- The two partitions which will be merged must be adjacent. It means that there are no other partitions except unallocated space between the two partitions which will be merged.
- Both boot partition and system partition can not be merged into another partition. Only other partitions can be merged to them.
- Either partition should not be a hidden partition. However, it can be a partition that has no driver letter.
- NTFS partition can not be merged into FAT partition. Only FAT partition can be merged into NTFS partition.
The following is an example to merge 2 partitions - D drive and E drive with Partition Magic Software
